Czech covers for Ranger's Apprentice
I'd like to show you the Czech covers. The first three books were done by Paolo Barbieri, the fourth book was done by Josef Fraško, the rest of the books were done by Jan Patrik Krásný (also counting The Royal Ranger series, the Early years series and the Brotherband chronicles).
I'm not an expert at describing pictures, but I wanted to show you how simple and yet beautiful they are (when I was younger, I couldn't appreciate that. I thought they were ugly).
So without further ado, here they are:
RANGER'S APPRENTICE

I think we can safely say that this is Will, since this is the book that started it all and acts as an introduction to the series.

This is still very obviously Will. A second edition of Ranger's apprentice is being published in the Czech republic right now and since the first edition (in the picture) didn't have the extra chapter where Halt throws a baron into a moat, I wanted to know if the second edition had it. Nope. Seems like they didn't do their homework.

This is that Galician guy that everyone forgot. Yeah, it's Deparnieux. Kind of nice to see him on a cover - could've been very easily Halt or Horace or Evanlyn since they were prominent characters in this book.

If I remember correctly, this book has two different names abroad - The Oakleaf bearers (which is the name that Czechia translated) and The Battle for Skandia in the US. I'm inclined to think this is Will, but I'm not too sure about it. Still, thanks to the knives I think it is him. There's even a horse behind him - probably Tug, since it has this gray-ish colour.

THIS is the biggest change. Czech edition moved Erak's Ransom to be the fifth book since it makes more sense, Will is still an apprentice and all. I'm not really sure, but I think it might be Evanlyn/Cassandra. If you look closely, you can see a woman's curves. Although, I admit, for a moment I thought it could be Hassan and Sandstorm, but this horse is black and not a palomino.

Naturally, with Erak's Ransom moved as the fifth installment, the former fifth book has been moved to number six. This is Will facing the Night Warrior.

First Horace cover.

This could be either Halt or Ferris, but since the person in the picture is kind of chubby, I bet it's Ferris.

These are Halt and Will. Sadly, no Horace.

I'm sure about emperor Shigeru, but I'm not too sure about the person in the background. I think it's Horace, though. He's one of the main characters but then, book 3 had Deparnieux so...
I know in the Czech RA fandom there's been a huge debate about who's the character here and the fandom has come to the conclusion that this is Gilan. We know that Blaze is a bay horse (both Abelard and Tug are grey/dapple grey) and while Crowley has a bay horse, this guy certainly doesn't have red hair. Or is it the lightning?

The Royal Ranger (A New Beginning) wasn't published here as a stand-alone series. Instead, both The Red fox clan and Duel at Araluen continue as books 13 and 14 respectively. This is Will, Maddie and Bumper.

I think we can agree that this cover portrays the clan. As I said above, this book counts as book #13. I also scored this book on the first day it was available here. After the hit that was Ranger's apprentice, I thought that the bookshop (in the very centre of Prague, mind you, it's one of the biggest bookshops here) would order like, much more than just ONE book. So I swept in, bought that ONE book and went back home. (I also needed to write an essay that was due for the next day, and guess what? I sat on my throne (read: bed) and read it all. Conclusion: I had no willpower and also no essay.

I also had some problems acquiring this book. It just wasn't in the bookshop, but in another one just a street away there were tons of it, so problem solved. Again, Maddie is on the cover.
RANGER'S APPRENTICE: THE EARLY YEARS
I absolutely loved the Early years prequels (maybe even more than the main series), but I've seriously no idea who these dudes are. Probably just some knights. The textless version has much better quality, but I wasn't able to find a sufficent picture with text.

This is definitely Halt. Now that I see it, there were no Crowley covers (and SPOILERS there probably won't be any, since he's - you know - dead?)
So that's the Ranger's apprentice. I might do the Brotherband covers too, but, to be honest, I'm not that familiar with Brotherband characters to do an analysis.
